For over a decade, a family in the Cotswolds has transformed their home into a dazzling Christmas lights display, honoring the memory of their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Sandra Wearing, while raising funds for Sue Ryder’s Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham.
Every December, the Wearing family decorates their Beverstone Road home in South Cerney with an impressive array of festive decorations. This annual tribute not only celebrates Sandra’s life but also supports the hospice that provided her with compassionate care during her final days.
To date, their efforts have raised more than £8,350 for Sue Ryder, directly benefiting the hospice’s end-of-life care and grief support services. The display welcomes residents and visitors to enjoy the spectacle daily from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm until New Year’s Day.

The creation of this enchanting display is a true family affair. Kelvin Wearing, alongside his daughter Debbie and other relatives, spends over a month preparing the lights and decorations. “This year, we’ve added four new inflatables—three of them animated,” Debbie shared. “There’s a giant present with a snowman popping out and even a helicopter hanging in the garden!”
The family’s dedication reflects the profound gratitude they feel for the exceptional care Sandra received. Debbie noted, “The hospice was absolutely incredible. The care my mum received was second to none, and we have the utmost respect for all the staff who stood by us through such a difficult time.”
The Christmas lights display has blossomed into a beloved community tradition, drawing locals together to admire the festive spectacle. Alysia Cameron-Price, Community Fundraising Manager for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, expressed her deep appreciation: “We are incredibly grateful to Kelvin, Debbie, and the family. Their illuminations have brought joy to the community for over ten years, and the funds they raise ensure we can continue providing vital care when it’s needed most.”
Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the display through January 1, 2026, with donations warmly welcomed to support the hospice’s essential services.
