The culinary team behind the popular Knead Bakery is set to open an exciting new European restaurant in the Cotswolds this June. Lardon will join Knead’s established presence across the region, including locations in Cirencester, Tetbury, Oxford, Tewkesbury, and Elkstone Studios.
Nestled at Elkstone Studios in the heart of the Cotswolds, Lardon promises a warm, community-focused atmosphere where guests can relax and enjoy contemporary small plates inspired by the flavors of Tuscany, the south of France, and the Algarve. The menu will emphasize fresh, locally sourced ingredients, thoughtfully crafted by head chef Mikey Bain, whose experience includes esteemed establishments such as Calcot Manor and Whatley Manor.
The restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, complemented by a vibrant drinks selection ranging from craft cocktails to ciders and beers. Guests can also take advantage of an outdoor terrace featuring a bar, perfect for enjoying summer evenings al fresco.

Joining Bain in delivering an exceptional experience is front-of-house lead Josh Newman, formerly of No. 38 The Park in Cheltenham, a venue part of Julian Dunkerton’s Lucky Onion Group. Together, the team aims to make Lardon a go-to destination for both locals and visitors.
Co-founders John and David Hawes, alongside Kris Briggs from Cirencester-based Jesse Smith Butchers, have shared their vision on social media, highlighting Lardon’s inspiration from European culinary traditions and its commitment to community spirit. The restaurant has already generated enthusiasm online, with nearly 400 followers eager to experience its debut.
As the finishing touches are put in place, Lardon promises a fresh, flavorful dining experience that captures the spirit of European small plates with a distinctly local touch—a new gem for the Cotswolds dining scene.
