Cotswold Wildlife Park Named England’s Best Family-Friendly Wildlife Attraction

Cotswold Wildlife Park in Burford, Oxfordshire, has been officially recognized as the best wildlife park in England by consumer brand Which?. This family-friendly attraction, known for its rich animal diversity and well-maintained grounds, offers a refreshing alternative to more famous destinations like Longleat or West Midlands Safari Park.

Spanning 160 acres, the park is home to over 1,500 animals representing more than 250 species, including rhinos, giraffes, lions, penguins, and one of the UK’s largest collections of reptiles. It also boasts an impressive breeding program that welcomes hundreds of new animals annually, featuring fascinating species such as naked mole rats, Brazilian tapirs, and capybara.

Described as a “walking safari,” Cotswold Wildlife Park successfully combines elements of traditional zoos and safari parks in a rural Oxfordshire setting, close to picturesque Cotswold stone villages. Visitors praise the park for its spacious enclosures, friendly staff, and commitment to animal welfare. One Which? spokesperson commented, “The animals all look healthy, well-cared for and happy,” awarding the park five stars for its wildlife experience and customer service.

Public feedback mirrors these accolades. On Google, the park holds a 4.7-star rating, with visitors highlighting its educational value, cleanliness, accessibility, and dog-friendly policy. One recent reviewer noted, “A fantastic day out for all… all nicely spaced out with decent food and plenty of toilets.” Another praised the relaxed atmosphere and excellent facilities, saying it’s easy to spend a full day comfortably.

Which? surveyed over 2,000 people to rate around 50 wildlife attractions across the UK, including zoos, safari parks, aquariums, and farms. While Cotswold Wildlife Park topped the wildlife park category, the Cornwall Seal Sanctuary was named the overall best wildlife attraction, edging out the Cotswolds by a narrow margin.

This recognition cements Cotswold Wildlife Park as a must-visit destination for families and animal enthusiasts seeking an immersive and enjoyable wildlife experience in the English countryside.
