Cotswold Solar Farm’s Security Boosted with 37 CCTV Cameras

The Cotswold solar farm by Aura Power Developments Ltd and the Bathurst Estate has received approval to install 37 pole-mounted CCTV security cameras. The 179-acre Kemble Solar Farm, with the capacity to power over 12,000 homes, had previously obtained planning permission in 2021. Now, the Cotswold District Council has given the green light for the installation of extra security measures, including the 37 cameras.

The proposed security enhancement aims to safeguard the infrastructure and assets associated with the approved solar farm. The plan involves strategically placing the CCTV cameras at the site’s perimeter and key access points, ensuring optimal coverage and efficient surveillance.

District planners have approved the proposal with conditions, one of which mandates the removal of the cameras and associated equipment within six months after the site is no longer used as a solar farm.

The developer estimates that the photovoltaic array will generate approximately 48 megawatt hours per year, offsetting the annual electricity usage of around 12,887 homes in the Cotswold District Council and Wiltshire Council Areas.
