Contract Extension Triggered for Exeter City, Notts County, and Newport County AFC Defender Scot Bennett at Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town’s Scot Bennett earned a contract extension by featuring in the team’s match against Gillingham, as confirmed by manager Michael Flynn.

During the 1-1 draw, the 34-year-old was substituted at half-time due to knee soreness, marking his 25th League Two start of the season and ensuring his stay at Whaddon Road for another year.

Having transferred from Newport County AFC last summer after an impressive 367 appearances for the Exiles, most under Flynn’s management, Bennett’s return in recent weeks from a knee injury has provided a boost to the squad.

Flynn expressed, “We missed Scot for the five weeks he was out, and he’s had a really solid season. He has triggered another year, so we just have to make sure his knee is right now and get him ready for next season.”

With a consistent performance throughout the season, Flynn emphasized Bennett’s reliability and positive impact on the team. Cheltenham is scheduled to face one of Bennett’s former clubs, Notts County, away on Easter Monday at 3 pm.
