Construction has officially commenced on the new David Lloyd Club in Bishop’s Cleeve, with an anticipated opening in autumn 2026. Situated on the village outskirts, north of Cheltenham, this cutting-edge health and wellness facility promises extensive amenities for families and adults alike.
David Lloyd Clubs, renowned for its commitment to promoting health and wellbeing, is building this state-of-the-art club to provide diverse fitness, racquet sports, and spa options. The project will significantly benefit the local economy by generating between 80 and 100 new jobs across various fields including sport, fitness, spa services, hospitality, catering, and business administration.
Planning permission was granted by Tewksbury Borough Council in July 2025, emphasizing a vision for a healthy, sustainable community. This new club will mark the second David Lloyd location in Gloucestershire, complementing the existing club in Gloucester city centre.

Among the club’s standout features will be a gym boasting over 100 stations with David Lloyd’s innovative equipment and layout. Members will enjoy more than 100 weekly classes in group exercise studios, featuring signature sessions such as IGN1TE for high-energy workouts, Mind and Body classes like SPIRIT, Pilates, and Yoga, as well as cycling classes RHYTHM and CYCLONE, and the exclusive high-intensity HIIT class, BLAZE.
Additional facilities include heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, premium cushioned acrylic tennis courts indoors, and outdoor padel courts. The luxurious Spa Retreat, a hallmark of David Lloyd Clubs, will offer a Himalayan Salt Sauna, Fire and Ice room, Rainforest Experience Shower, invigorating citrus steam room, plunge pool, and hydrotherapy swim-in/out pool — all designed to promote relaxation and rejuvenation.
The spa extends outdoors to a tranquil Spa Garden with a plunge pool, hydrotherapy pool, loungers, and a sauna for ultimate relaxation.
The Clubroom provides an elegant space for members to unwind and savor meals with friends and family. Adjacent to this, a Business Lounge offers a comfortable, productive environment for those working remotely, equipped with mobile phone charging stations.
Families will appreciate a dedicated kids’ area complete with an indoor soft play zone separated from the Business Lounge to maintain a peaceful workspace. The club will offer structured swimming and tennis lessons for children aged 3 months to 12 years, as well as DL Kids after-school and holiday programs. Childcare services will be available for infants aged 0–5 years.
For children 8 years and older, “Rebels” sessions encourage fitness and wellbeing activities alongside their parents and carers, promoting an active lifestyle.
Convenience is ensured with a 315-space car park incorporating disabled bays, parent-and-child spaces, electric vehicle charging points, and sheltered bicycle racks.
