There is growing concern about the numerous care providers in Gloucestershire that require improvement. Out of 209 adult care providers in the county, only a few offer a good or outstanding service.
However, 34 organizations operating in Gloucestershire are in need of improvement. Councillor Jeremy Hilton (LD, Kingsholm and Wotton) has called on Gloucestershire County Council bosses to publish a list of these care providers that do not meet the criteria of being good or outstanding.
During a recent meeting on November 22, he also inquired about the council’s plans to monitor the improvement initiatives of these providers. He emphasized the importance of oversight to ensure that these providers have improvement plans in place to meet the standards achieved by most care providers in the county.

Deputy leader and finance and change cabinet member Lynden Stowe (C, Campden-Vale) stated that a response would be provided by adult social care commissioning cabinet member Carole Allaway-Martin (C, Coleford) outside of the meeting.
The council has already published a list of care providers requiring improvement as identified by the Care Quality Commission in advance of the meeting.
