Hannah Bourne-Taylor, affectionately known as the ‘Bird Lady’ from Clarkson’s Farm, recently shared a troubling health ordeal that saw her admitted to hospital in the early morning. The naturalist and wildlife campaigner took to Instagram to describe a challenging day that began with a 3am visit to the Accident and Emergency department due to severe pain caused by kidney stones.
Hannah had planned a trip to Scotland for an important bird-watching event, aiming to catch a ferry to visit the world’s largest colony of gannets. Despite her pain, she was determined to make the journey, prepared even to rest in her car overnight if necessary. However, upon reaching the ferry terminal after driving over 250 miles, she discovered the ferry had been cancelled.
Sharing her frustration, she wrote that the cancellation meant she faced an exhausting 250-mile journey back home, still suffering the discomfort of kidney stones and unable to see the gannets she had been so eager to observe.

Hannah is well known for her activism and expertise in bird conservation, notably contributing to Jeremy Clarkson’s show by identifying bird species on Diddly Squat Farm with remarkable skill.
Her followers and fans quickly expressed their sympathy and support. Messages included wishes for her speedy recovery and encouragement to try again another time. One supporter said, “There will be another day. Don’t worry. Got mates nearby who can look after you :)”, while another added, “Hope you are better soon and that you get the chance to see them next year.”
Hannah responded gratefully to the outpouring of kindness, thanking everyone for their support during her difficult day.
