Harriet Cowan, the nurse-turned-farmhand who stepped in for Kaleb Cooper on the fourth series of Prime Video’s Clarkson’s Farm, has addressed the controversy surrounding a so-called “fake” interaction with Jeremy Clarkson.
At just 24, Harriet joined the show when Kaleb took a break to focus on his tour, The World According to Kaleb. Upon arriving at Diddly Squat Farm, Harriet admits to Jeremy Clarkson that she hadn’t actually watched an episode of the show. She told the former Top Gear host, “You know on YouTube those funny ‘shorts’ moments? I’ve seen those, but I don’t have time to watch the whole series.”
Fans questioned the authenticity of this exchange after hearing Harriet’s words sounded scripted. However, Harriet clarified on the podcast Should I Delete That?, hosted by Emily Clarkson, that the scene was genuine. When Emily asked if she ever relaxed by watching TV with her boyfriend, Harriet responded with a laugh: “No, no. That trailer scene where I say I’ve never watched Clarkson’s Farm? It looks fake, but it’s completely real. We literally don’t watch TV. If we try, James is out cold immediately because he’s always so tired.”

Jeremy Clarkson himself welcomed Harriet to the show during Kaleb’s absence but quickly dismissed reports of Kaleb being replaced. “Kaleb’s not gone forever,” Jeremy stated in an upcoming episode preview. “He went on his speaking tour for a couple of months, thinking I’d manage on my own here after four years — but I didn’t. I made a right mess of things and had to bring Harriet in to help. She did brilliantly and held the fort until Kaleb returned.”
Fans can rest assured that Kaleb Cooper remains an integral part of Clarkson’s Farm, while Harriet Cowan has been praised for her capable and enthusiastic addition to the cast.
Clarkson’s Farm continues to be available for streaming on Prime Video.
