Clarkson’s Farm ‘Bird Lady’ Hannah Bourne-Taylor Responds to Fan Criticism and Allegations

Clarkson’s Farm returned for its fifth season, with Jeremy Clarkson continuing his journey running a farm in the Cotswolds. This series has been described as his most personal yet, offering deeper insight into the challenges of British farming life.

Among the new contributors this season was Hannah Bourne-Taylor, a passionate bird enthusiast invited by Jeremy to help protect the farm’s avian residents. Jeremy had expressed concern over the absence of common farmland birds, fueling his desire to support wildlife. Hannah’s enthusiasm was immediately apparent as she delighted in spotting and hearing various rare bird species on the farm. She even amazed Jeremy by revealing she once allowed a bird to nest in her hair for 84 days.

However, Hannah’s appearance sparked some tension, notably with farmhand Kaleb Cooper. The disagreement centered on a field that needed ploughing for harvest but was home to nesting endangered birds. Kaleb argued there wasn’t time to wait for the chicks to fledge, while Hannah advocated for their protection. Ultimately, a compromise was reached to save the birds while harvesting the crops.

Despite this resolution, some viewers criticized Hannah, accusing her of being rude to Kaleb during the discussion. On Reddit, a user commented, “She came across as genuinely quite rude… she acted like they were wanton idiots killing baby birds for fun.” The comment section also saw speculation about Hannah’s neurodivergence, with some assuming she might be autistic based solely on her intense passion for birds, though Hannah has never disclosed any such diagnosis.

In response to the backlash, Hannah addressed the allegations through an Instagram video. Dressed casually in denim shorts and a tied plaid shirt, she acknowledged the internet’s “diagnosis” of her being autistic with humor, jokingly doing an impression of the movie character Rain Man. She then enthusiastically named 100 bird species, covering tits, seabirds like puffins and razorbills, and various farm birds—the very topic that dominated her role on Clarkson’s Farm.

The response from viewers was overwhelmingly positive. Comments praised Hannah’s knowledge and passion, with one fan saying, “You star Hannah,” and another sharing how they were inspired to use bird identification apps in their own garden for the first time in decades.

Hannah Bourne-Taylor’s engagement and dedication have since earned her admiration and a growing following, highlighting the positive impact of her presence on Clarkson’s Farm.
