Clarkson Farm pub hit by repeated thefts of everyday items, including pint glasses sold online

Jeremy Clarkson has expressed his frustration over ongoing thefts at his Cotswolds pub and farm shop, where customers have been stealing everyday items to sell them for a profit online. The TV presenter, whose Amazon Prime series “Clarkson’s Farm” has boosted the popularity of his businesses, shared how his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, has become a frequent target for thieves.

In one instance, around £200 worth of cooking oil was stolen in a single night. However, the losses extend beyond food items; light bulbs and urinal traps are taken so often that staff now have to secure them tightly to prevent theft.

Glasses, particularly the branded Hawkstone pint glasses exclusive to Clarkson’s establishments, are among the most commonly stolen items. An estimated 400 glasses disappear every week. These pint glasses typically sell for £6 each on the official Hawkstone website, but stolen glasses have been spotted on eBay listed between £10 and £15, attracting significant interest from buyers.

The problem has sparked concern and criticism among viewers and social media users. Suggestions to curb the thefts include introducing a deposit system for glasses, similar to those used at Christmas markets in Germany, or switching to plain glassware to reduce their appeal to thieves.

Others expressed sympathy for Clarkson, recognising the effort he puts into his businesses and condemning the disrespectful behaviour of the thieves. Some questioned the value of stealing items that are easily and more cheaply purchased directly.

Since the launch of Clarkson’s Farm, his enterprises-including Diddly Squat Farm Shop and The Farmer’s Dog pub-have drawn thousands of visitors each week, showcasing the show’s significant local impact but also unfortunately exposing them to these repeated losses.
