Christmas Lights Switch-On at Gloucester Food Dock Brings Festive Cheer with Hot Drinks and Elves

Gloucester Food Dock is launching the festive season with its very first Christmas Lights Switch-On event, happening tonight, Thursday, November 13, from 5pm to 7pm. Set against the picturesque Victoria Basin, this community celebration promises an enchanting evening for all ages.

The highlight of the night will be the official countdown at 6pm to illuminate the Food Dock’s festive light display alongside the grand Gloucester Docks Christmas Tree. Visitors are welcome to gather at the Quayside in front of the Food Dock to soak up the joyful atmosphere.

The event features live carols from St Cecilia’s choir and spirited performances by local musician Libby Rollings, who will present a selection of beloved holiday tunes outside Roots + Seeds.

Warm up with delicious hot chocolates, mulled wine, and an array of seasonal treats offered by the Food Dock’s cafés and restaurants, each featuring special festive menus to complement the sparkling new illuminations.

Adding to the festive magic, Father Christmas and his elves, arranged by the Rotary Club of Gloucester, will lead the countdown and be available for meet-and-greets and photos by the glowing Christmas tree, creating memorable moments for families.

Cheyenne Brown, Event Manager, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to partner with the Rotary Club of Gloucester and Music Works to create this new festive tradition at Gloucester Docks. Wrap up warm, grab a hot drink, and join us as we celebrate the season together!”

The Christmas Lights Switch-On is a free, public event inviting everyone to join in the festive spirit and enjoy the vibrant community atmosphere at Gloucester Food Dock.
