Christine McGuinness has revealed insights into her personal life, sharing that she has dated both men and women and embraces a fluid approach to her sexuality. The 37-year-old former model, who separated from TV host Paddy McGuinness in 2022, emphasized that for her, a partner’s gender is not a defining factor.
Speaking on the How To Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast, Christine reflected on common questions about her sexual identity, saying, “No, and again, I’ve thought about it. A lot of people always ask me, are you a lesbian? Are you bisexual? Are you what? Is this a phase? I’ve always been quite a free spirit. That’s the only word I would put on it.” She added that from her teenage years, she has dated both boys and girls without feeling it was anything unusual or significant.
Christine described her experiences with women as positive, noting that gender never influenced her feelings or choices. “It shouldn’t matter somebody’s gender. It never mattered to me, which was why once me and my ex-husband were separated and I met people, I didn’t properly date,” she explained. She described her relationships as fluid, often blending with friendships naturally, which felt comfortable and familiar from her youth.

Open about her past, Christine shared that her ex-husband and family have always been aware of her dating history. Now a mother of three—11-year-old twins Leo and Penelope, and eight-year-old Felicity—she is seeking a meaningful personal connection, but clarified she is not looking to create a new family dynamic.
“I really, really, honestly, I love my family, and Patrick is part of my family and he always will be,” she said. “But now for my next relationship, I know what I want—I want someone for me. Someone I enjoy spending time with, sharing activities, who I can connect with emotionally and be vulnerable around, but who can also make me laugh.”
Despite their separation, Christine and Paddy continue to live together and maintain a respectful arrangement. “We actually had a good 16 years together. I still live with him. We met when I was 19, and though we’ve been separated for three years, we live in the same house,” she shared. Both agree dating other people is acceptable, but they choose to keep the details of their new relationships private.
Christine’s candid reflections highlight her commitment to authenticity, self-discovery, and the evolving definition of family.
