Christian Wade Departs Gloucester Rugby for Rugby League

Gloucester Rugby will bid farewell to winger Christian Wade as he prepares to transition to Rugby League by joining Wigan Warriors at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.

Wade, who joined Gloucester from Racing 92 last summer, has made a significant impact during his time with the Cherry and Whites, showcasing his impressive try-scoring abilities. His departure marks yet another example of a player crossing sports, following the footsteps of Louis Rees-Zammit’s brief pursuit of playing in the NFL last season.

George Skivington, Gloucester’s director of rugby, praised Wade’s contribution and character, acknowledging the winger’s positive influence on the team. In response, Wade expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Gloucester and conveyed his excitement for the upcoming challenge in Rugby League.

As Gloucester prepares for the next season, they have already secured the services of former London Irish winger Ben Loader and are expected to bolster their backline further with the potential addition of Newcastle Falcons full-back Ben Redshaw.
