Children Get Their Hands Dirty in Garden Project with Bewley Homes at Ashton Keynes Primary

Young learners at Ashton Keynes Primary School embraced the outdoors through an exciting gardening project, made possible by a partnership with local housebuilder Bewley Homes.

Reception students eagerly participated in hands-on gardening sessions, planting wildflower seeds using kits and tools generously donated by Bewley Homes. These activities coincided with the launch of National Children’s Gardening Week, held from May 25 to June 2, which encourages children nationwide to discover the joys of gardening at school, home, or community spaces.

Samantha Saville, head teacher at Ashton Keynes Primary School, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “This initiative gave our children a wonderful opportunity to learn and enjoy themselves. It’s important for them to understand the value of caring for the environment and to experience the responsibility of growing their own flowers.”

Jo Dixon, marketing manager at Bewley Homes, shared the company’s motivation for involvement: “Our King’s Water development is close to the school, so partnering on this delightful initiative felt natural. We selected wildflower seeds to help children learn how these plants attract bees and contribute to a healthy ecosystem.”

Beyond gardening, Bewley Homes has supported various educational programs across southern England this year, promoting site safety and careers in housebuilding as part of its community engagement efforts.

The King’s Water development nearby offers a variety of homes, including two to five-bedroom houses and bungalows, catering to diverse family needs.
