A Cheltenham woman, Linda Jackson, is embarking on a remarkable challenge to honor her dear friend who battled cancer alongside her. Linda, 58, is gearing up to participate in the TCS London Marathon on 27 April, with the aim of raising crucial funds for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in memory of her friend.
Linda’s journey with cancer began when she was diagnosed with a rare Neuroendocrine tumor in 2011, followed by a subsequent diagnosis of primary breast cancer. It was during her cancer treatment journey that she forged a deep bond with her friend, Debbie, who was also battling breast cancer. The two shared a unique and unbreakable friendship, finding solace and support in each other during their challenging times.
Debbie spent her final days receiving care at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, further emphasizing the significance of the hospice in both Linda and Debbie’s lives. Linda vividly recalls the therapeutic atmosphere of the hospice, describing it as a place of tranquility and comfort during their tough times.

Despite living with Stage 4 cancer, Linda’s determination to push forward remains unwavering. Her running journey, which commenced as a means to stay active post-diagnosis, has evolved into a powerful testament to her resilience and strength. Alongside her son, David Jackson, Linda is preparing for the marathon, with David serving as her support runner, offering both practical assistance and emotional encouragement.
Reflecting on her journey, Linda expresses her desire to continue fundraising and partaking in additional events beyond the marathon, emphasizing her refusal to let cancer hinder her aspirations.
