Cheltenham Town is set to launch their 2026/27 League Two campaign with an exciting home fixture against Rotherham United on Saturday, August 15. Manager Steve Cotterill will be aiming for his first opening-day win in charge of the Robins as they welcome a Millers side recently competing in the Championship until 2024.
Rotherham United currently remains without a head coach following Lee Clark’s departure last May, though former England manager Steve McLaren has stepped in as head of football.
Cheltenham’s initial away match will be a short journey to nearby rivals Swindon Town on August 22, followed by a trip to Barnet on August 29 to close out the month.

The newly promoted York City will visit Whaddon Road on Tuesday, September 1 in a midweek clash, with the reverse fixture scheduled for February 9 at the LNER Community Stadium. This will mark Cheltenham’s first-ever match at York’s ground.
Festive fixtures include a Boxing Day home game against Port Vale and a December 29 trip to Northampton Town. The new year begins with a visit to Walsall on January 1, while the return match at the EV Charger Points Stadium takes place on Good Friday, March 26. Cheltenham also travels to Port Vale on Easter Monday.
The final home game of the season is a May 1 fixture against Cotterill’s former club, Shrewsbury Town, before wrapping up the League Two campaign with an away match at National League play-off winners Rochdale on May 8.
