Cheltenham Town is set to bolster its midfield ranks with the loan signing of 19-year-old Cole Deeming from West Bromwich Albion.
A talented, left-footed midfielder, Deeming has impressed at his Championship club, where he has taken on the responsibility of captaining the Under-21 side. Earlier this season, he gained valuable first-team experience on loan at National League side Truro City, where he started four matches and notably scored an equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Forest Green Rovers on December 30.
Born and raised in Halesowen, Deeming has been with West Bromwich Albion since he was six years old and is a lifelong fan of the club. He made his senior debut in August 2024 during an EFL Cup match against Fleetwood Town, coming on as a substitute in the 62nd minute.

His rise through the ranks has been impressive. Deeming found the net on his Premier League 2 debut against Everton and captained the Baggies’ Under-18 team during the 2024/25 season FA Youth Cup run, where he scored three times in four matches. Additionally, he netted five goals for the Under-21 squad, including a memorable brace in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Arsenal.
Deeming’s arrival adds to Cheltenham Town’s recruitment efforts in the January transfer window, following the signing of left-back George Nurse on a deal until season’s end. Forward Jake Bickerstaff also recently converted his loan from Wrexham into a permanent 18-month contract with the Robins.
Cheltenham Town will look to integrate their new signing quickly as they prepare to face Grimsby Town at home in their upcoming League Two fixture this Saturday at 3pm.
