Cheltenham Town will kick off their 2026/27 EFL Trophy campaign with a home fixture against Exeter City on Tuesday, September 22. The two teams last clashed in the competition five years ago, when Exeter edged through on penalties following a 2-2 group stage draw.
Managed by Steve Cotterill, Cheltenham will then welcome Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s to Whaddon Road on Tuesday, October 13, marking their second consecutive season facing Spurs’ youth side. Their previous encounter ended 2-2, with Cheltenham triumphing 3-1 on penalties at the EV Charger Points Stadium.
The Robins will complete their group stage journey with an away trip to Oxford United on Tuesday, November 10. This fixture marks their fifth meeting in the EFL Trophy, with both teams having secured two wins apiece so far.

All group matches are scheduled to kick off at 7pm, offering fans prime evening football action.
Cheltenham’s standout EFL Trophy performance came in the 2022/23 season when they reached the semi-finals, narrowly losing to Plymouth Argyle on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Home Park.
Additionally, Cheltenham Town will host an open evening at Whaddon Road on Tuesday, July 28. The event begins at 5pm with a first-team training session set to start an hour later, providing supporters with an excellent opportunity to engage with the squad ahead of the new season.
