Cheltenham Town manager Steve Cotterill praised his team’s resilience after a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Fleetwood Town. Despite falling 2-0 behind at half-time, Cotterill emphasized that his side performed well throughout a challenging evening in tough conditions.
“We put ourselves under pressure with a couple of poor decisions leading to goals," Cotterill admitted. “But I thought we were the better team overall.” He highlighted the importance of getting an early goal in the second half, which Cheltenham managed through a stunning finish by Jordan Thomas. Cotterill also praised Isaac Hutchinson’s impactful performance and the team’s continuous push to win the game right up to the final whistle.
The first half saw Fleetwood’s Mark Helm netting two goals, including a fortuitous one that bounced over Cheltenham’s goalkeeper Joe, a situation Cotterill acknowledged as part of the unpredictable nature of the game. Despite some mistakes, Cotterill noted the players’ determination and the team’s solid defensive work against a strong Fleetwood side.

“Their presence was a great effort and a real boost for the club,” Cotterill said. Looking ahead, Cotterill noted the team’s focus on recovery and training as they prepare for upcoming fixtures amidst the Cheltenham Festival celebrations.
