Cheltenham Town will kick off their 2026/27 EFL Trophy campaign with a home fixture against Exeter City on Tuesday, September 22. The two clubs last clashed in the competition five years ago, with Exeter edging through on penalties after a 2-2 group stage draw.
Following this, Steve Cotterill’s side will welcome Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s on Tuesday, October 13, marking their second consecutive season meeting in the Trophy. The previous encounter ended 2-2, before Cheltenham triumphed 3-1 on penalties at the EV Charger Points Stadium.
The group stage concludes with a Tuesday, November 10 trip to Oxford United, a League One rival. This will be the fifth EFL Trophy meeting between the clubs, with both sides currently holding two wins apiece.

Each of Cheltenham’s group matches is scheduled for a 7pm kick-off.
Notably, the club’s deepest run in the EFL Trophy was in the 2022/23 season, reaching the semi-finals before falling to Plymouth Argyle on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Home Park.
In other news, Cheltenham Town will host an open evening at Whaddon Road on Tuesday, July 28. The event commences at 5pm, followed by a first-team training session at 6pm.
