Cheltenham Town manager Steve Cotterill described their recent 3-2 win over York City as an exhilarating match showcasing plenty of goals and strong performances on both sides. “We seem to be involved in matches like these quite often now,” Cotterill said, acknowledging the intensity of the game. Despite York’s established squad and strong budget since their promotion, Cheltenham managed to edge out a victory on home ground.

Cotterill emphasised Evans' talent and character, recalling the initial hesitance in signing the then 17-year-old and the strong support from his family. “He’s a great lad – down to earth and a tough cookie,” Cotterill said, also remarking on Evans' near hat-trick with a strong save denying his third goal.
Tactical flexibility was demonstrated at halftime when Cotterill switched to a back three formation to counter York’s attacking threat, especially considering the hamstring concerns over defender Ben Stevenson and a booking for Shaun McWilliams.
