Cheltenham Town have secured veteran midfielder Ryan Broom on a new one-year contract, marking an extension to his third spell at Whaddon Road. The 29-year-old returned to the Robins last summer from Fleetwood Town and quickly established himself as a key player throughout the 2025/26 season.
Broom featured in 36 matches across various positions, including winger, right-back, and attacking midfield, showcasing his valuable versatility. He also contributed a memorable goal in the 2-0 EFL Cup first-round victory over Exeter City. His adaptability and professionalism have been praised by manager Wade Elliott, who highlighted Broom’s vital role in the squad.
“Ryan is a wonderful character and a fantastic professional, you can’t have enough of those in the squad,” said Elliott. “He’s settled here, especially after recently becoming a father, and his flexibility on the pitch is a huge asset. We’re excited to have him back for pre-season.”

Originally joining Cheltenham in 2018, Broom left in 2020 for Peterborough United for a significant fee but returned for the 2022/23 League One campaign. His influence helped the Robins achieve their second-highest finish in the third tier, securing 16th place. Over his time at Cheltenham, the Welshman has amassed 18 goals, cementing his importance to the club’s ongoing ambitions.
