Cheltenham Town Extend Contract for Versatile Midfielder Ryan Broom

Cheltenham Town have secured a new contract for Ryan Broom, ensuring the 29-year-old midfielder will continue his third spell with the club. The versatile player, who rejoined the Robins from Fleetwood Town last summer, featured prominently in the 2025/26 season, making 36 appearances across all competitions.

Broom demonstrated his adaptability by excelling in various positions including the wing, right-back, and attacking midfield. His notable contribution included scoring in the decisive 2-0 EFL Cup first-round victory against Exeter City. Following forward George Miller’s recent contract extension, Broom is the latest key player to commit to Cheltenham for the upcoming season.

Manager Wade Elliott expressed his confidence in Broom, stating, “Ryan is a wonderful character and a fantastic professional; you can’t have enough of those in the squad.” He also highlighted Broom’s settled life, mentioning that the player recently became a father, which adds to his stability and focus.

Broom’s history with Cheltenham Town dates back to 2018 before moving to Peterborough United in 2020 for a six-figure transfer fee. He returned ahead of the 2022/23 League One campaign, playing a vital role in Cheltenham’s impressive 16th-place finish, their second-best ever in the division. Across all his spells at the club, the Welshman has amassed a total of 18 goals, further underlining his importance to the Robins.
