Cheltenham Racecourse Seeks Licence for One-Day Tribute Festival

Darren McClure has applied for a premises licence on behalf of Social Eats Events to host the Cheltenham Tribute Festival at The Helifield, Cheltenham Racecourse, located on Evesham Road, Cheltenham GL50 4SH. This single-day outdoor event is planned for Saturday, 29 August 2026.

The application, made under the Licensing Act 2003, requests permission to supply alcohol and provide live and recorded music, as well as dancing, from 12pm through 10pm. However, the public notice—published in the Gloucester Citizen and on the Public Notice Portal—does not specify the event’s expected audience size or detailed site layout.

Residents and businesses can view the full application at Cheltenham Borough Council offices during weekdays from 9am to 5pm. Comments or concerns must be submitted in writing to the Licensing Team by 8 June 2026, either by post at the Municipal Offices or via [email protected]. Any representations should address the licensing objectives, which include preventing crime and disorder, ensuring public safety, preventing public nuisance, and protecting children from harm.

If approved, the festival may result in increased noise levels, foot traffic, and vehicle activity in the vicinity of the racecourse and along Evesham Road. The notice does not outline event-specific management plans such as security, stewarding, noise control, or traffic arrangements, nor does it mention any road closures on the A435.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the council’s licensing files for any future updates. It’s important to note that knowingly providing false information in a licensing application is a serious offense, punishable by an unlimited fine.
