A midnight burglary at the Charlton Kings Post Office in Cheltenham left the community shaken as three unidentified offenders forced their way into the premises. Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed the incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19.
The burglars gained access by breaking the locks on the rear door of the Post Office located on Lyefield Road West. CCTV footage showed the trespassers searching the interior and stealing cigarettes, stamps, and cash from the till.
Fortunately, the Post Office was closed at the time of the theft, and the branch has since reopened. A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesperson urged anyone with information to come forward, referencing Incident 008 of 19/05/2026, with a dedicated reporting form available on the police website.

The Post Office also expressed its support for the branch operator and encouraged the public to report any tips either directly to the police or anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555111.
