Chef at Popular Indian Restaurant in Cheltenham Shortlisted for Major UK Culinary Award

Thomas Law, Head Chef at Prithvi, a celebrated Indian restaurant in Cheltenham, has been named a finalist in the prestigious ‘Restaurant Chef of the Year’ category at the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards 2025. This national recognition highlights Thomas’s creativity, technical skill, and consistency in delivering exceptional à la carte dining experiences.

The awards ceremony will take place in London on June 16, where top chefs from across the UK will be honoured for their outstanding contributions to British food and drink. Coinciding with this event, Thomas will also make two special appearances at the Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival, held at Montpellier Gardens.

During the festival, Thomas will present interactive sessions in the Cheese and Wine Tent on June 20 (3:45pm-4:30pm) and June 22 (2:30pm-3:30pm). These talks will offer attendees a behind-the-scenes look at his innovative cooking processes and feature samples inspired by Prithvi’s recently launched cookbook. Festival-goers will also have the chance to purchase copies of his debut book.

Expressing his excitement, Thomas said, “Being shortlisted at the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards is a tremendous honour. It reflects the dedication and passion of the entire Prithvi team. We are committed to crafting dishes with care, and receiving national recognition means a great deal to us. With the awards ceremony happening just before the festival, it’s an amazing opportunity to celebrate with the local community. I look forward to sharing our inspiration and connecting with fellow food enthusiasts.”

Prithvi is known for its refined Indian-inspired cuisine and tasting menus, recently earning an AA Rosette and the title of ‘Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year’ at the Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards. The restaurant continues to attract a loyal following both locally and beyond.

Attendance at Thomas’s festival talks is included with a ticket to the Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival, with limited seating available in the Cheese and Wine Tent on a first-come, first-served basis.
