A young dog from Gloucestershire is looking for a permanent home after spending much of his life moving between kennels and foster families through no fault of his own.
Mac, a spirited one-and-a-half-year-old crossbreed, is under the care of the RSPCA South Cotswold and Gloucester District Branch. Despite his unsettled past, he has not lost his joyful and engaging nature.
Mac is one of 13 animals featured in the fifth annual Agria Rescue a Rescue campaign, which highlights pets across the UK in need of loving families. Known for his outstanding recall, Mac is an active, intelligent dog who enjoys having a purpose and needs a patient adopter who will allow him the time and space to settle in at his own pace.
Agria describes Mac as a loyal and entertaining companion who will thrive with an adventurous owner willing to build a special bond.
The campaign’s announcement coincides with recent statistics revealing that around 250,000 cats and dogs remain in rescue centres across the UK, waiting for their forever homes.*
Since its launch in 2021, Rescue a Rescue has aimed to bring attention to some of the UK’s most overlooked rescue animals. The initiative was created in response to the substantial rise in pets entering rescue centres after the surge in pet ownership during the 2020 pandemic.
To support these vital causes, Agria is donating £1,000 to each of the 12 participating rescues, amounting to £12,000 in total funding to assist their ongoing work.
Dr Scott Miller, Agria ambassador and TV vet, emphasises the importance of the campaign: “Every day, I witness the number of remarkable animals still waiting for a second chance in rescue centres. Rescue a Rescue plays a crucial role in giving these pets the spotlight they deserve.”
He adds, “I hope that all 13 featured animals find their forever homes, and that the campaign encourages more people to visit their local rescues and discover the wonderful animals waiting for new families.”
This year’s selection includes six dogs, five cats (including a bonded pair), and two horses, all chosen by an expert judging panel. Agria hopes that raising awareness will lead to these deserving animals finding loving homes across the UK.
