An affectionate one-and-a-half-year-old dog named Mac is hoping to find his forever home after spending much of his short life moving between kennels and foster families. Mac is cared for by the RSPCA South Cotswold and Gloucester District Branch and was placed into kennels through circumstances beyond his control.
Mac, a lively and intelligent crossbreed, has been chosen as one of 13 animals showcased in Agria’s annual Rescue a Rescue campaign, now in its fifth year. This initiative highlights pets in need of loving homes, aiming to raise awareness and support for rescue animals.
Described as bold and active, Mac thrives when engaged and given a purpose. He would greatly benefit from a patient adopter who can provide a secure environment where he can gradually settle and adjust at his own pace.

Agria praises Mac’s exceptional recall, noting he would make a loyal and entertaining companion for an adventurous owner looking to build a strong bond. Mac is among the 13 animals shortlisted this year by an expert judging panel, which includes Agria ambassador and TV vet Dr Scott Miller.
This announcement coincides with recent figures showing approximately 250,000 cats and dogs remain in UK rescue centres awaiting permanent homes. Rescue a Rescue has highlighted some of the UK’s most overlooked pets since its 2021 launch, responding to the surge in rescue intakes following the 2020 pandemic-related pet ownership boom.
As part of the campaign, Agria is donating £1,000 to each of the 12 participating rescue centres, amounting to a total of £12,000 to support their ongoing care and rehoming efforts.
Dr Scott Miller commented: “Every day I witness the number of wonderful animals still waiting for a second chance in rescue centres. Campaigns like Rescue a Rescue are vital not only in providing financial support but also in shining a spotlight on animals who truly deserve a loving home. I hope all 13 animals find their forever families and that more people are inspired to visit their local rescues and meet the pets waiting for them.”
The selected animals include six dogs, five cats (including a bonded pair), and two horses. By raising awareness about the urgent need to rehome rescue pets in the UK, Agria aims to find loving homes for all featured pets.
