Charlies Stores, a well-loved family-run home and garden retailer, has revealed plans to open a brand-new store in Cheltenham, taking over the site of the former Homebase on Tewkesbury Road.
This eagerly anticipated ninth location will offer a comprehensive selection of home, garden, leisure, and outdoor living products, catering to a wide variety of customer needs. With popular brands like Stihl, Barbour, Le Chameau, Ariat, and Le Creuset available, visitors can expect quality and variety under one roof.
The new store is set to create over 50 local jobs, further strengthening the community while providing residents with a trusted destination for gardening, outdoor activities, and DIY projects.

Founded in 1986, Charlies Stores began as two modest army surplus outlets in Mid-Wales. Over the decades, it has evolved into a respected regional brand with eight existing stores and an extensive online presence serving customers across the UK.
Managing Director Becky Lloyd shared her enthusiasm: “We’re incredibly proud to bring Charlies to Cheltenham. Our goal is to create a welcoming shopping environment filled with helpful service and excellent products for everyday life. This new store marks an exciting milestone for us, and we look forward to becoming a favourite among local shoppers.”
Charlies Stores plans to celebrate its Cheltenham grand opening in October, inviting the community to explore and enjoy their expanded home and garden offerings.
