Channel 5’s popular show Springtime on the Farm has returned for its ninth series, thrilling fans with fresh stories from Cannon Hall Farm in Yorkshire. Since its debut in 2018, the series has become a staple for viewers, beautifully capturing the lively and heartwarming moments of spring on British farms. The show’s charm and authenticity have earned it the Best Factual Show award at the TV Choice Awards two years running.
This season, presenter Helen Skelton joins farm owners Rob and Dave Nicholson to showcase a variety of new arrivals on the farm—including an unusual addition that caught many by surprise. The team has built a custom enclosure to welcome two female Sulcata tortoises, one playfully named Helen after the presenter herself. Designed to encourage climbing and muscle development, their spacious habitat offers both indoor and outdoor areas to help them settle in comfortably.
Helen expressed her enthusiasm about the new residents, saying, “This is very impressive!” The farm owners explained that along with traditional farm animals like lambs, goats, and calves, they also care for reptiles and small mammals, aiming to provide educational experiences for visitors.

Brilliant first episode, thank you so much.” Viewers expressed excitement about the show’s mix of new and familiar farm animals and praised the heartfelt storytelling that highlights life on the farm.
In addition to the tortoises, this series features stories from Jimmy Doherty’s farm and wildlife park in Suffolk and Willows Activity Farm in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Notable moments include visits to collect a pregnant Shire horse named Ruby, who is about to go on maternity leave, and appearances from Jon Bon Pony, the charismatic Cannon Hall Farm Shetland pony famous for his romantic escapades.
Springtime on the Farm continues to air weeknights on Channel 5 at 7pm, inviting viewers to enjoy the magic of spring and animal life at the farm.
