The public now has a unique opportunity to part-own a historic village tavern nestled along the scenic River Wye. Following a successful initial investment round last year, the Brockweir Inn Community Benefit Society (BICBS) has reopened its share offer, aiming to secure the funds necessary to refurbish and reopen the beloved Brockweir Inn.
In December 2024, the BICBS proudly acquired the remarkable 16th-century village pub, a treasured local landmark. Now, the society is launching its second share offer, opening June 1 and running through July 15, 2025, inviting community members and supporters to join the renovation effort.
Last year, 395 founder members from Brockweir and far beyond—including investors from New York and Australia—helped bring the project to life. Every member holds an equal voice in guiding how this historic inn will serve future generations.

Henry Morland, Chair of the BICBS, expressed his enthusiasm: “The overwhelming support for reopening the Brockweir Inn has been inspiring. We are thrilled to see people coming together to preserve a vital part of our community’s heritage and to build a sustainable future for the inn. We invite more enterprising individuals to join us in welcoming locals and visitors back to the Brockweir once again.”
Community ownership of pubs is a growing movement across the UK. While 6% of pubs have closed in the past six years, 174 communities have successfully taken collective ownership of their local venues. Thanks to the alignment of commercial and community interests, these initiatives boast a remarkable 99% success rate.
