Cameron Thomas, the Liberal Democrat MP for Tewkesbury, has categorically denied allegations that led to his arrest on June 17. Gloucestershire Police detained Mr. Thomas on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. After being interviewed, he was released on bail as inquiries continue.
In a public statement, Mr. Thomas said: “Allegations were recently made against me, which resulted in my arrest last week by officers of Gloucestershire Constabulary. I comprehensively refute those allegations and continue to fully cooperate with their investigation.
“Until the conclusion of that investigation, I am unable to comment further, but I will continue to serve my constituents as their elected Member of Parliament. My office remains in place to support constituents with casework and official inquiries.”
