In the early hours of May 23, police in Cheltenham pursued a burglary suspect who attempted to evade capture by climbing over a fence. Around 2 a.m., three men were spotted examining homes and vehicles along Sydenham Road South. Gloucestershire Police reported that the men entered the backyard of a residence, prompting officers patrolling nearby to intervene.
Upon arrival, officers observed one man scaling the fence between properties and initiated a foot chase. The suspect was apprehended after officers successfully followed him over the fence. During a search, the man was found to be in possession of a knife.
The 47-year-old Cheltenham resident has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of a pointed or bladed weapon. He remains in police custody as investigations continue.
