Bristol Rovers Recall Isaac Hutchinson from Cheltenham Town Loan

Bristol Rovers have officially recalled attacking midfielder Isaac Hutchinson from his season-long loan at Cheltenham Town. The 25-year-old, whose recall was reported by Gloucestershire Live, will return to his parent club halfway through the season.

Hutchinson joined Cheltenham on September 1, following a troubling period where he and his family were subjected to abuse by a minority of Bristol Rovers supporters. The Memorial Stadium took a firm stance against the misconduct, emphasizing a “zero-tolerance policy towards abuse” and collaborating with authorities to address the issue.

Signed by Bristol Rovers on a three-year contract from Walsall in the summer of 2024, Hutchinson had already made an impact, scoring twice before his loan move. His impact at Cheltenham was immediate – he scored within two minutes of his debut, delivering a stunning free-kick to secure a 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley, marking Cheltenham’s first victory of the season.

Throughout his time with the Robins, Hutchinson scored seven more goals, becoming their top scorer and also contributing three assists, playing a key role in Steve Cotterill’s team resurgence. His performances have been vital in Cheltenham’s FA Cup run, where he scored the lone goal against Bradford City and netted twice in a 6-2 victory over Buxton.

Despite expressing a desire to finish the season with Cheltenham, Hutchinson will return to Bristol Rovers this week, ahead of their upcoming fixtures. Cotterill and the player both acknowledged this early return, marking a new chapter for Hutchinson back at The Quarters.
