Taine Anderson has been recalled by Bristol City after an injury disrupted his loan spell at Cheltenham Town. The 19-year-old left-back, who joined Cheltenham in early July as their third summer signing and first loanee, managed just one competitive appearance for the Robins.
Anderson started Cheltenham’s opening day 1-0 defeat at Cambridge United but was subbed off in the 66th minute. Shortly afterwards, a long-term hamstring injury sidelined him, forcing an early end to his loan and prompting a return to Bristol City for treatment.
A Gloucester native, Anderson has been with Bristol City since under-seven level and signed a two-year professional contract with the Championship club in the summer of 2024. He was a key figure in their Under-18 squad, helping them reach the FA Youth Cup semi-finals in the 2023/24 season.

Cheltenham have also seen central defender Jacob Mazionis return to Ipswich Town early due to a foot injury. Manager Steve Cotterill has indicated that forward Tommy Taylor might seek a new loan for more game time, while striker Jake Bickerstaff is expected to remain at the club.
Other loan movements include Isaac Hutchinson and Ethon Archer departing for Bristol Rovers and Luton Town, respectively. Meanwhile, MK Dons’ Sam Sherring is recovering from a hamstring tendon injury.
Cheltenham Town will host Leicester City in the FA Cup third round this Saturday with a 12:15 p.m. kick-off.
