Brewery Arts in Cirencester Receives £90,000 Grant to Fuel Creative Future

New Brewery Arts, a beloved arts centre nestled in the heart of Cirencester, is celebrating a significant financial boost that promises to strengthen its role in the creative community. The Cotswolds-based charity has been awarded a £90,000 grant from The Julia Rausing Trust, a foundation dedicated to supporting arts and heritage initiatives in memory of Julia Rausing.

This crucial funding arrives at a pivotal time as New Brewery Arts navigates ongoing challenges in 2026, following a difficult 2025 marked by soaring costs and dwindling resources. CEO Beth Alden expressed heartfelt gratitude: “This transformative gift from The Julia Rausing Trust is a lifeline, enabling us to keep the spirit of craft and creativity vibrant.”

Alden reflected on the trials of the past year, acknowledging how the organisation faced unprecedented financial pressures. “Our trustees and staff showed remarkable resilience and dedication to stabilise the charity, supported by extraordinary generosity from the local community, visitors, and donors—including a vital anonymous donation,” she said. “With this new funding, New Brewery Arts can now confidently look to the future and plan for sustainable growth.”

Founded in 1978 in a former brewery building, New Brewery Arts champions the art of craft—celebrating handmade creativity through workshops, studios, a 100% UK-made craft shop, and a café. These elements combine to create a thriving hub for artistic expression and community connection in Cirencester.

The Julia Rausing Trust’s support will help New Brewery Arts continue its mission over the next three years, including preparations for its 50th anniversary in 2028. Beyond the celebrations, the funding secures its ability to nurture craftsmanship and keep its doors open to everyone. However, Alden is clear that while this grant is invaluable, ongoing support will be essential to sustain the arts centre’s long-term future.
