Break-in at One of Britain’s Oldest Fish and Chip Shops in Broad Daylight

Police are seeking witnesses after a break-in at the Tudor Fish and Chip Shop in Newent, one of Britain’s oldest establishments of its kind. The incident occurred around 2:50 pm on Thursday, June 11, when a man forcibly entered the shop on Broad Street and stole a till containing cash.

Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed that a man in his 30s from Newent was arrested following inquiries and remains in police custody. Officers continue to investigate the incident and have reviewed CCTV footage as part of their enquiries.

Authorities are urging anyone who saw the break-in or who has dashcam or doorbell video footage to come forward. Information can be submitted online through the police force’s website, referencing occurrence number 53260045660.
