Bourton-on-the-Water Welcomes Shop Showcasing the Finest of the Cotswolds

Visitors to Bourton-on-the-Water, one of Gloucestershire’s most frequented destinations, have been introduced to a fresh addition this summer that promises “a genuine piece of the Cotswolds”.

Established in April, Made in the Cotswolds aims to highlight and celebrate goods that are crafted, finished, or produced within the Cotswolds region. The shop’s founder, Claire Cox, explained the vision: “Our aim is to create somewhere that visitors immediately associate with the Cotswolds. We want people to know that when they buy something from us, they are supporting local businesses and helping keep money within the local economy. We are passionate about the Cotswolds and wanted to create a shop that genuinely celebrates the area.”

From locally made cider to artisan ceramics, the store offers a carefully curated selection of produce and handmade items intended to be more meaningful than conventional souvenirs. Claire hopes to provide shoppers with “a chance to take home a genuine piece of the Cotswolds while supporting local businesses, makers and producers.”

The assortment of gifts, homeware, and food reflects the unique character and heritage of the Cotswolds. Although some items may use base materials sourced from beyond the UK, the focus remains firmly on products that are completed or crafted within the Cotswolds rather than simply bearing a themed label.

Made in the Cotswolds places a strong emphasis on partnerships with independent makers, farmers, producers, and small enterprises from across the region. Iain, frequently present at the shop alongside Claire, added, “We’re proud of where our products come from. There are so many talented people producing fantastic things across the Cotswolds, and we want to give them another platform to reach the thousands of visitors who come to Bourton-on-the-Water every year.”

Looking to the future, the team plans to expand the shop’s online presence to enable customers who have visited the Cotswolds to continue supporting local producers once home, further promoting the region’s vibrant local economy.
