A new shop in Bourton-on-the-Water is attracting the attention of tourists visiting one of Gloucestershire’s most popular destinations this summer, offering a unique opportunity to purchase authentic products made within the Cotswolds.
Made in the Cotswolds opened its doors in April with the goal of celebrating items that are made, finished, or created locally within the historic and picturesque Cotswolds region.
Founder Claire Cox explained, “Our aim is to create somewhere that visitors immediately associate with the Cotswolds. We want people to know that when they buy something from us, they are supporting local businesses and helping keep money within the local economy. We are passionate about the Cotswolds and wanted to create a shop that genuinely celebrates the area.”

The shop offers an array of products ranging from cider to ceramics, all thoughtfully selected to be more meaningful than traditional souvenirs. Claire hopes shoppers will appreciate the chance “to take home a genuine piece of the Cotswolds while supporting local businesses, makers and producers.”
With gifts, homeware, and food items on display, the collection reflects the character and heritage of the area closely. While some products may include base materials sourced from outside the UK, the focus remains firmly on those that are made, finished, or produced within the Cotswolds rather than simply bearing a Cotswolds-themed label.
Made in the Cotswolds particularly prioritises working with independent makers, farmers, producers, and small businesses throughout the region.
“We’re proud of where our products come from,” added Iain, who is often present at the shop alongside Claire. “There are so many talented people producing fantastic things across the Cotswolds, and we want to give them another platform to reach the thousands of visitors who come to Bourton-on-the-Water every year.”
Looking ahead, the duo plan to expand the shop’s online presence, enabling customers who have visited the Cotswolds to continue supporting local producers long after leaving the area.
