Bolton Wanderers have secured the signing of Tom King, a 19-year-old forward and former Cheltenham Town academy player, following a successful trial with the club.
King, who hails from Dursley, was released by Cheltenham Town at the conclusion of the last season. He has now committed to a two-year contract with the Whites, including an option to extend for an additional 12 months. Initially, he will join the Championship side’s Under-21 squad as he continues his development.
During his time with Cheltenham Town, King made 11 first-team appearances. Notably, he scored in an EFL Trophy match against West Ham United Under-21s in October 2024. He also made his English Football League debut at the start of the 2023/24 season in a League One match against Shrewsbury Town, in which he became Cheltenham’s youngest player to feature in the Football League.

King also spent some time on loan at Worthing last season, where he managed to score in a 4-0 home victory over Hemel Hempstead before his loan spell was curtailed due to injury.
“I am excited for this new chapter at Bolton Wanderers and eager to continue improving with the Under-21s squad,” King commented following his signing.
Bolton Wanderers fans will be hoping King’s potential can be nurtured as he aims to make his mark in the Championship in the seasons ahead.
