Body Found in River Avon Search in Gloucestershire

Police have recovered a body in the River Avon as part of their search for a man who went missing over a week ago in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.

The search began last Friday, December 19, after witnesses reported seeing a man enter the water near Mythe Road around 9pm. The man, believed to be a local in his 20s, was reported missing, triggering an extensive search and rescue operation.

Despite challenging conditions caused by heavy rain in December, which led to high and fast-flowing river levels and temporarily halted the search, teams persisted. Early on Saturday, December 27, a body was recovered from the river.

A spokesperson for the police expressed sympathy for the man’s family, saying, “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this time.”
