BMW Driver Flees After Dangerous High-Speed Chase and Crashes on M5 in Gloucestershire

A driver behind the wheel of a blue BMW X3 sparked chaos on the M5 in Gloucestershire last week, leading to multiple crashes and a police chase that had to be abandoned due to extreme danger.

The incident began around 8:50 am on January 13th when the BMW was seen speeding at dangerously high speeds along the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway near junction 14. Police noted that the vehicle had no number plates and featured blacked-out windows, raising immediate suspicion.

After exiting the motorway at junction 11 or 11a, the BMW was spotted again by officers in Tewkesbury. Upon noticing the police, the driver attempted to evade capture by colliding with several other vehicles but refused to stop. The dangerous nature of the driving forced officers to halt the pursuit, prioritizing public safety.

Later, the abandoned BMW was located in Worcestershire. Despite a coordinated search by Gloucestershire and West Mercia Police, the driver remains at large. Authorities are now appealing to the public for any information that could lead to their identification and arrest.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson commented: “The driver’s reckless behavior, including high speeds on the hard shoulder and multiple collisions, posed a significant risk to other road users and forced us to call off the pursuit for everyone’s safety.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police online, referencing incident 87 from January 13th.
