A tragic collision on the A40 near Dowdeswell in the Cotswolds has claimed the life of a BMW driver. Emergency services responded to the crash at approximately 3:40 pm on Tuesday, February 24, involving a Mini Cooper and a BMW 5 Series.
The BMW driver, a man in his 40s, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts from a passing member of the public and paramedics. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained police officers.
The Mini Cooper’s driver, a woman in her 50s, was critically injured and airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where she remains in serious condition.

Authorities closed the A40 during the rescue and investigation efforts, but the road has since reopened. Gloucestershire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage relating to the collision to come forward, referencing incident 306 of February 24.
