Bingham Kindergarten in Cirencester has once again received top marks from Ofsted, thanks to its enchanting blend of fairy tale learning, French lessons, and nurturing care. The nursery, located in Bingham Hall on King Street, was recently inspected and deemed good across all areas by Ofsted.
The inspection report lauded the strong relationships between staff, children, and families, noting that the environment is nurturing and fosters happiness, settlement, and contentment among the children. With a registration for 56 children, the nursery currently has 18 children on roll, providing care and education for children aged two to four during term time from Monday to Thursday. The small team of five staff members, led by a manager with qualified teacher status and two others holding early years qualifications, ensures a personalized and high-quality learning experience for the children.
The report commended the nursery for delivering an ambitious curriculum that provides children with a wide range of experiences based on their interests. Children were observed engaging in learning through fairy tales, using storytelling as a springboard for creative and imaginative play. Furthermore, the emphasis on early language development was highlighted, with the staff placing a high focus on supporting children’s language and literacy skills. The children’s positive attitudes towards learning and their eagerness to get involved were also praised, with staff noted for quickly identifying and addressing learning delays or additional needs.

Partnerships with parents were recognized as another strength, with the nurturing environment, caring staff, and wide range of learning opportunities receiving positive feedback. Parents also appreciated the level of support provided and the regular communication regarding their children’s progress. The nursery’s commitment to outdoor play, regular outings to the park, and the establishment of clear safety boundaries during these activities were also acknowledged.
Leadership at the nursery was praised for maintaining good oversight of the curriculum and the quality of education being delivered. While effective safeguarding arrangements and a positive culture around safeguarding were noted, areas for improvement were identified, with a specific reference to the need for swift identification of weaknesses in practice, particularly in procedures around handwashing.
