Tragedy struck near the Red Lion pub on London Road in Ampney St Peter when a black BMW S 1000 RR Sport motorbike crashed into a wall last night, June 25. The incident was reported to Gloucestershire Police at approximately 6:55 pm.
The rider, a man in his 50s from Swindon, was treated at the scene by paramedics but sadly succumbed to his injuries. His next of kin have been notified. The pillion passenger, a man in his late teens also from Swindon, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Great Western Hospital for urgent medical care.
Road closures between Ampney St Peter and Poulton were implemented to facilitate the collision investigation but have since been lifted. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward to assist with the inquiry.
