A tragic motorbike accident occurred last night outside the Red Lion pub on London Road in Ampney St Peter. At around 6:55 pm on June 25, Gloucestershire Police were alerted to a collision involving a black BMW S 1000 RR Sport motorcycle that struck a wall near the pub.
The rider, a man in his 50s from Swindon, was treated at the scene by paramedics but sadly succumbed to his injuries. His next of kin have been informed. The pillion passenger, a man in his late teens also from Swindon, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon for treatment.
Following the collision, several roads between Ampney St Peter and Poulton were closed to allow a thorough investigation but have since reopened. Investigating officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
