Beatrice and Eugenie Reveal Candid Thoughts on Their Mother Before Reported Rift

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie expressed heartfelt admiration for their mother, Sarah Ferguson, just months before reports emerged of a strained relationship between them.

Although their father, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, was recently stripped of all royal titles and Sarah Ferguson faced multiple charity patronages revoked following a leaked email to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the princesses maintain their own royal statuses.

In a May broadcast of the Lessons From Our Mothers podcast, Beatrice and Eugenie spoke warmly about Sarah’s character and motherhood. When asked what she valued most about her mother, Beatrice, 37, mother of two daughters, shared: “The more I get to know her, the more incredible she becomes. As a mum, she radiates joy and consistently shows up no matter what. Reflecting on all she’s endured recently, including health challenges, I see her reaching a new level of greatness.”

Eugenie, 35, who has two sons, echoed similar sentiments. She described Sarah as “spontaneous, mad as a box of frogs,” and “the joy bubble in the room." She added, “As mums ourselves, being around her makes us feel young again, like children needing support, and that unwavering strength is what stands out most.”

However, recent developments have tested family ties. Sarah Ferguson’s controversial email communication with Epstein came after she had promised not to contact him again. Following this disclosure, she lost her Duchess title, coinciding with Andrew’s relinquishment of his Duke of York title and King Charles’s formal steps to remove Andrew’s royal honors.

Royal commentator Rebecca English revealed insights from a family friend who claimed that Beatrice and Eugenie’s disappointment with their mother may now surpass their feelings toward their father. “They deeply love her and appreciate her as a grandmother, but concerns about her mental well-being and the unfolding scandal have led to a disillusionment,” the source explained. “The scales have fallen from their eyes.”

As the family navigates these challenging times, the princesses’ earlier praise of their mother offers a poignant reminder of their enduring bond amid upheaval.
