Helen Skelton has addressed the “wild” rumours linking her romantically to fellow BBC Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones. Despite persistent speculation fueled by their on-screen chemistry, Helen firmly states that their relationship is strictly professional and friendly.
The presenter, who previously clarified they “just work together,” revealed that the rumours have become so intense that even her best friend mistakenly congratulated her on an engagement to Gethin. Speaking to The Times, Helen said, “It’s wild. I’ve had my best friend congratulate me on our engagement. We’re not together. We work together; he’s one of my best friends.”
Helen, a mother of three and former wife of rugby player Richie Myler, also joked about her father confusing dating apps — thinking she uses Tinder when she actually uses Vinted, a second-hand clothes app. She shared a touching moment with her children, who questioned her marital status, and reassured them, “I’ll die happy.”

Her eight-year marriage to Richie ended in 2022, with both committed to co-parenting their children. Since then, Helen has maintained privacy over her love life, even as rumours connected her and Gethin following reports of spa outings and close appearances at the Pride of Britain Awards.
When asked about further dates, Helen bluntly said: “No, well, he’s in Manchester working away, so yeah, no, all good.” She emphasized, “We just work together, we are not together. No, no, no. We are just work friends.”
Gethin has also commented on their friendship, describing their supportive relationship both on and off camera. “We are very supportive of each other, we like to look out for each other,” he told The Sun. “Sometimes you might need a little pep talk every now and then because she’s very passionate.”
Looking ahead, both Helen and Gethin are up for the Best Presenter category at this year’s National Television Awards. Additionally, Morning Live has been nominated for Best Daytime TV show, marking a successful period for the duo professionally.
