Gardeners' World fans noticed a scheduling change this week, with the beloved BBC horticultural show airing on a Thursday evening instead of its usual Friday slot. The series, known for its expert gardening advice and scenic garden visits, typically runs from mid-March to late October on BBC Two, taking a winter break of four months.
This week’s shift to Thursday was to feature a special episode filmed at the first RHS Flower Show held at Wentworth Woodhouse in South Yorkshire. The change did not go unnoticed by viewers on social media, with many expressing enthusiasm and unwavering loyalty.
“#gardenersworld on a Thursday? Oh, yes. At #rhswentworth,” one fan tweeted. Another declared, “It will take more than a change of day to stop us #GardenersWorld fans from watching the best programme on television.” Others shared their excitement about tuning in early, saying, “Indoors in time for some #GardenersWorld action this evening,” and “Now for #GardenersWorld on a Thursday again.”

The episode kicked off with host Arit Anderson walking through the floral displays at Wentworth Woodhouse, a grand estate boasting the longest facade in the UK. She told co-host Joe Swift, “It’s a Gardeners’ World first, we are spending the day at the first ever RHS Flower Show, Wentworth Woodhouse.” The show highlighted diverse segments, from the flower show’s interiors to Chris Myers discussing the essential role of gardening among coalminers. The episode also showcased emerging horticultural talents presenting innovative products.
“This truly is a show with a difference, flying the flag for the horticultural North,” Arit commented, emphasizing the unique setting and fresh focus.
Ahead of the broadcast, Gardeners' World announced the schedule change on their official Instagram page, sharing photos of the presenters at Wentworth with the caption: “We’ve just spent the last couple of days filming at RHS Wentworth Woodhouse - a brand new flower show based in South Yorkshire. Find out what caught our attention TONIGHT at 8pm on BBC Two. It’s a must-watch!”
Fans responded warmly, with comments such as, “It was a beautiful day yesterday, looking forward to watching tonight,” and “Looking forward to watching. We love visiting Wentworth Woodhouse.”
